ADVERT ANALYSIS'

What makes a good advert?
*Simplicity
*Provocative: Evoking emotions from people
*Comedy is good. It helps to make it something a person will remember.
*Shock tactics
*Using celebrities
*Showing situations that the viewer can only dream to be in so they think that buying the product gets them a step closer.
COCA-COLA ANALYSIS
The Coca-Cola Company practically owns every fizzy drink and also is responsible for Santa being red. This advert stands out as red is their trademark colour and stands out in the simple circle. The colours are brighter in the centre to make the bottle stand out. The Ice and water dripping shows that the drink is always served ice cold and it is an attempt to make people thirsty.
TOYOTA ADVERT ANALYSIS
The Toyota advert I'm analysing is very vague as it only reveals at the end it is an advert for a car. It presents its advert like a story with a plot.
The advert starts with a man and his girlfriend looking at shops when the man spots a celebrity he likes. He asks his girlfriend to take a picture of them both but she only photos their legs.
It then says 2 days earlier and reveals that it wasn’t an accident. The Guy gets in the car while eating some toast and turns up the radio with his greasy hand and makes the dial greasy. His girlfriend looks offended. It then says “Toyota: Treat it with respect.”
This slightly funny themed advert is in a series of their advertising campaign involving someone having revenge for disregard to the car. The comedy gets keeps people’s attention even after its ended and the tag line implies that you should respect the car because it’s really good.
CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS LIVE ACTION ADVERT
This live action advert for the video game Call of Duty: Black ops features real people of most ages and jobs battling with guns in an abandoned site. Some people are dressed in their work clothes and there are close ups of girls to show that really everyone can play this game apart from people underage. The music in the advert is actually in the game and it is a 60’s or 70’s hippy song.
The advert is nonstop shooting with different weapons that feature the customizable emblems on the guns like in the game. After the minute of gunplay, it climaxes with a chef walking towards the camera in slow motion with duel pistols aiming to the side with a neutral look. There is a napalm strike which is also in the game exploding behind him as it zooms out to show the whole scene of the site.
RETURN TO MENU
Teleshopping is a massive genre of advertising that is most commonly presented live so viewers can phone in as the prices drop. Teleshopping adverts are never shown in normal advert breaks on any channel. They are more of a scheduled program in themselves on the higher channels, or late at night on popular channels.
The style Teleshopping is presented is always the same with two presenters. Usually, one knows everything about the product and the other one has been scripted with questions to ask about the item. The item is usually found on a raised table in the centre of the room which is well decorated to look like a house to show that the product fits in perfectly at home. The style of the presenters advertising consists of a lot of repetition of the products pro’s.
After some time, the product will start to drop in price every few seconds. Anyone with a brain would just wait for it to drop to a ridiculously low price, then phone in and buy it. That is if the sellers didn’t lie about how many were selling a second.
